I’m the one who buys the Oreos

Pours the milk, makes the pancakes and the toast

I’m the one who holds your hand

The one who reads you to sleep

I’m the one

The one

One

I’m the one who washes your new jeans

who took you shopping for new orange cleats, hoodies and a new soccer ball

I’m the one who buys the books for tomorrow

And the sodas for today

I’m the one who wakes for your bad dream

I’m the one

The one

One

So why do you

Why would you

lie to me

Smile and pretend there’s nothing new

When between us floats this dark cloud of get the fuck away from me

My arms only stretch so far

and the darkness has daggers pointed directly at my heart

Don’t you know

I’m the one

The one

One
